A new place to celebrate

I spend an embarrassing amount of my time on social media and during the state shutdown for Covid, this habit only grew stronger and more prevalent in my daily routine. I can lose track of time scrolling through Pinterest, looking for future house inspiration, discovering new bucket list travel destinations, and fawning over all of the puppies. Instagram, however, has always been my favorite social media platform. I think the ease of the simple home page with the perfect mix of celebrities, organizations, friends, and family is extremely palatable and really captures my attention. But since the murder of George Floyd, I have seen my friends and family use their platforms to help educate others, raise awareness, and fight for change. The type of content on feed has completely transformed within the past few months and I have felt like a better version of myself because of it.

As I've mentioned in previous posts, I hope that my blog is not only entertaining and helpful to understanding families like mine but also educational and a credible resource. So in light of Pride Month and the Black Lives Matter movement, I have created an Instagram account that will not only serve as an outlet for my stories but as a platform for resources to LGBT+ creators, organizations, and causes. I will be sharing posts from some of my favorite creators, links to educational articles and statistics on LGBT families, and resources to support LGBT+ causes. My intent with my blog is to provide my perspective and experience. I would like to use the Instagram account to showcase other LGBT family's and their stories. My family is not the only one of its kind and the more exposure and education we have on these family styles, the less stigmatized and stereotyped they will be.

As always I would like this Instagram account to be a safe space focused on education and celebration. I would love for you to follow along and share your stories and feedback as well! If you have any experiences you would like me to share on my account please reach out to me and I will do my best to help your voice be heard.
